Behind the scenes at the launch party for L’Oreal’s new natural-origin brand, Seed Phytonutrients
I was lucky enough to attend Seed Phytonutrients intimate launch party in New York City on April 19, 2018, held at The Foundry, a very cool space in Long Island City (Queens). The brand team along with some of my favorite sustainability bloggers (Valeria Hinojosa from Water Thru Skin and Lauren Singer of Trash Is For Tossers) all gathered to learn about and celebrate this incredible brand, and influence it is creating in our world.
Seed Phytonutrients mission is to plant the seeds of health, well-being, and sustainability for future generations. In order to protect seeds from over-commercialization, they partner with independent American organic farmers to harness the power of local seed varieties to create elevated natural products. It takes three years to have an organic farm certified – and during that period, farmers can’t market their products as certified organic which hurts they business big time. Seed Phytonutrients supports these organic farmers by paying for 100% of their crop up front, regardless of yield, which allows farmers to reinvest in their farms and plan for their future harvests. This incredible support lays an uber strong foundation for the future of organic farming which will provide us all with organic crops for years to come. It’s a very admirable effort.
Their collection includes hair, body, and face. Based in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, the team was established in 2017 and their very first season of products has just launched this Earth Month 2018. The line is paraben-free, sulfate-free, gluten-free, cruelty-free, made from plant based ingredients with 93-100 percent natural origin. I also love how they’ve classified products seasonally – and talk about PERFECT timing for a launch!
“We believe that what you put in your body is just as important as what you put on your body so our formulas are 93-100% natural and contain only what is needed, noting thats is harmful. We also believe that sustainable beauty is the future of beauty and are beyond excited to launch this Earth day with the first ever shower-friendly paper bottle that is 60% less plastic than a traditional bottle.” – Bradley Farrell, VP & Lead Brand Farmhand, Seed Phytonutrients
The launch party was absolutely stellar – plants, herbs, and seeds (duh!) adorned the space in every direction – and the scent when I entered the room – OMG. It just smelled so good everywhere. Like, crazy good. So pure and fresh. With a gorgeous display of products to check out, we had the chance to get acquainted with all the varieties in the line, before being seated to a gorgeous dinner space where the Wolffer Rosé (a sustainable vineyard out east in my home of Long Island) was flowing, and plates upon plates of yummy veggies were served family style. It was a mostly vegetarian menu, with the exception of a brisket that was the most melt in your mouth meat nibble ever.
The team was just the kindest bunch, and the overall sentiment in room was just so incredibly positive – we were all there because we believe in a healthier future for our planet and are each using our talents to help us get there collectively. It was such a pleasure to get to know the faces behind this brand, their values and passions for what they do is so evident. It’s pretty much impossible not to love.
I left with some new friends and a very generous swag bag – so far I’ve been using the face products for three days straight and my skin has never been softer. I can go on and on about how great this brand is; I can’t wait to keep using all their goodies 🙂
Love your latest post on organic farming and seed phytonutrients. Your passion about sustainability is giving us all something to think about. Kudos Tara.
