Why You Should Switch to Shampoo Bars

This post is sponsored by Spring & Vine.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Have you ever found yourself frantically searching through your bag, trying to get all electronics and toiletries on the airport security conveyor belt before the guy behind you gets impatient only for your entire toiletry bag to split open because you just had to squeeze in one more thing at the last minute? Me too.

While it’s hard to find sustainable replacements for each of your toiletries, shampoo bars are an easy, clean alternative and lessen the burden on your toiletry bag.

However, easing your travel load shouldn’t be your only concern when searching for eco-friendly products. Many mainstream beauty products include harsh chemicals that aren’t strictly regulated. When absorbed by your skin, they can lead to adverse and allergic reactions. Even staying away from mainstream beauty products for a short period of time decreases hormone-disrupting chemicals in your body. Checking product labels for certain ingredients is a great start for a more sustainable beauty routine. For example, stay away from aluminum, parabens, toluene, sodium lauryl sulfate, synthetic formaldehyde and synthetic fragrances to avoid those chemicals entering your skin.

That’s why I’ve loved trying Spring & Vine’s paraben and sulfate-free shampoo bars – without all the nasties.

What are shampoo bars?

You guys know I’m always on the hunt for eco-friendly products and cruelty free brands, and I’m excited to share my latest find with you: Spring & Vine. Offering responsible and sustainable beauty alternatives with their paraben and sulfate-free shampoo bars, they’re not only a clean beauty option, but a responsible choice for the environment. All bars are made with only clean, easy-to-understand ingredients.

The best part? They’re free of sulfates, parabens, silicones, dyes, phthalates, mineral oils, and synthetic fragrances, vegan and cruelty-free AND use 95% less plastic and 90% less water than your standard 12.6 oz. bottle of shampoo with the same amount of uses. Sign me up!

How to use shampoo bars?

Zero-waste shampoo bars are used just like your other shampoos:

  1. Wet your hair and scalp
  2. Rub the shampoo bar between hands to create lather and rub it into your hair
  3. Thoroughly massage into hair and scalp
  4. Rinse well!

Done! To prolong use of your sulfate-free shampoo bar, store in a dry place between washes so it doesn’t stay wet and use up faster.

Which shampoo bar is best for me?

No matter your hair type, Spring & Vine offer a few great options! Just like any other shampoo, choosing the right one for you depends on your hair and what concern you’re trying to address. While they have a few different choices, all of them are made with shea butter and essential oils.
